Every outdoor photographer becomes a collector of sunsets, and Texas provides them on a grand scale - big-sky evenings where dust, humidity, and towering Gulf clouds turn the last light gold, rose, and violet over lakes and prairies. The very features that make the state hot and stormy make its skies spectacular.
Sunset is also the wildlife photographer's bonus round: herons cross the color on the way to roost, ducks ride the glitter path on the water, and for twenty minutes every silhouette becomes a subject. These frames are the days that ended too beautifully to put the camera away.
